About Us

A kingdom built for children who rarely see themselves on the page

The Halifax Empire began as a single question: what would a fantasy world look like if the kings, the queens, the heirs and the heroes were Black children?

That question became The Halifax Chronicles, a growing series of fantasy novels, and it has since grown into an entire universe of activity books, puzzle books and coloring books built around the same characters. Ajae, Jaya, Ty, Queen Serpent, Queen Raven and dozens more now appear across every format we publish.

What we make

Fantasy novels for older readers. Word search and puzzle books for children who are still building confidence. Coloring books for the youngest members of the family. Every title is drawn from the same world.

Why it matters

Representation is not a bonus feature in a childrens book. It is the thing that decides whether a child sees reading as something meant for them. We build stories where being Black and being royal are simply the starting conditions, not the plot.

Independently published

The Halifax Empire is independently published. Every book is written, illustrated and produced in house, which means we answer to readers rather than to a catalogue committee.
