How a Halifax book gets made
1. The world first
Nothing is written until the character exists. Every royal in the Halifax Empire has a family, a temperament and a place in the kingdom before a single page is drafted.
2. Written, then read aloud
Manuscripts are read aloud before they are approved. If a sentence trips a child up, it gets rewritten.
3. Illustrated in house
Character art is commissioned against a written brief so that a queen looks like the same queen across a novel, a coloring page and a puzzle book.
4. Activity books built from the story
Word lists, puzzles and coloring pages are drawn from the events and names of the books, not from a generic template. A child who solves the puzzle is learning the world.
5. Tested with real readers
Sample pages go out before launch. What confuses children gets cut.
